My girlfriend is a musical hippie at heart.
She’s into classic rock and has a vinyl collection with records including Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin.
Music is one of many things that brought us together. Last week, she asked me to introduce her to Reggae music - my favorite genre.
I got her this “Greatest Hits” album from Dennis Brown because he’s my favorite reggae artist of all time - Steel Pulse is a close second!
But I also got her this “50 Years of Reggae Music” compilation from VP Records on CD; I figured she could rip it and transfer it on her iPod.
The 50 Years compilation is extensive: this 4CD set features a #1 Hit from a Jamaican artist each year since Jamaica’s Independence. The album kicks off with some mento and ska, continues with rocksteady and roots reggae, then wraps up with some modern dancehall.
My girl has introduced me to some phenomenal music, and so I’m excited to return her the favor.
